ANASTROZOLE tablet

Products containing estrogen (such as birth control pills) should not be used. If you become pregnant or think you may be pregnant, tell your doctor right away. Before taking anastrozole, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to it; or if you have any other allergies. This product may contain inactive ingredients, which can cause allergic reactions or other problems. Arimidex lowers estrogen levels in postmenopausal women, which may slow the growth of certain types of breast tumors that need estrogen to grow in the body.

• Use effective birth control if you are not past menopause.
• If you miss a dose of this medicine, take it as soon as possible.
• And it may improve after the first year of taking the drug.
• The sites of metastatic disease were similar among treatment groups for each trial.
• Anastrozole is used to treat breast cancer in women after menopause.

Efficacy results from the two studies were similar as presented in Table 12. In both studies there were no significant differences between treatment arms with respect to any of the efficacy parameters listed in the table below. Results from the secondary endpoints were supportive of the results of the primary efficacy endpoints. There were too few deaths occurring across treatment groups of both trials to draw conclusions on overall survival differences.

Arimidex interactions

The pharmacokinetics of anastrozolewere similar in patients and healthy volunteers. In multiple daily dosing trials with 3, 5, and 10 mg, theselectivity of anastrozole was assessed by examining effects on corticosteroid synthesis. For all doses, anastrozole did not affect cortisol or aldosteronesecretion at baseline or in response to ACTH. No glucocorticoid pharmatropin ormineralocorticoid replacement therapy is necessary with anastrozole. Adverse reaction data for adjuvant therapy are based onthe ATAC trial [see Clinical Studies]. The median duration of adjuvant treatment for safety evaluation was 59.8 months and 59.6 months for patientsreceiving ARIMIDEX 1 mg and tamoxifen 20 mg, respectively.

3 Second-Line Treatment

In the primary analysis population for lipids (ARIMIDEX alone), there was no clinically significant change in LDL-Cfrom baseline to 12 months and HDL-C from baseline to 12 months. Between treatment arms in theoverall population of 6186 patients, there was no statistical difference inischemic cardiovascular events (4% ARIMIDEX vs. 3% tamoxifen). A class of drugs refers to medications that work similarly. They have a similar chemical structure and are often used to treat similar conditions. Over this 5-year study, breast cancer came back in 10.4% of women who took Arimidex. In comparison, breast cancer came back in 12% of women who took the cancer drug tamoxifen for adjuvant treatment. Arimidex is a type of hormone therapy called an aromatase inhibitor. It works by stopping estrogen from being made in your body by the aromatase enzyme.
